We are all faced with many daily task duties and responsibilities and that is why it is so important for us to slow down, take a step or a few steps back, redirect, prioritize and focus on doing less things better.
This has been a personal goal of mine for the past few months simply because I was missing out on some of the most important things that really mattered and I didn’t have time to enjoy it. Wake up, shower, devotional, prepare to start my work day, end my work day, dinner, errands, bed, and repeat Monday through Friday. Something as small as eating breakfast starts to be challenging and you would think breakfast is important and yes I agree it most definitely is very important you need your nutrients to fuel you throughout the day. However I was on auto pilot literally gas up and just kept going.
I stopped taking time for myself, I was clueless on a hobby or even just sitting down long enough to watch a movie and really watch the entire movie without falling asleep because I was so exhausted to keep my eyes open.
Cooking the quickest dinner that I could find and not enjoying my family from a place of joy and love because I was so tired all the time. I almost forgot to mention how it affected my health, hypertension, fatigue, irritability, only to name a few.
Finally I was ready to get off that roller coaster and I started to slow down. I decided to re-evaluate my daily tasks and responsibilities and put some systems in place for my life, for the betterment of my well being. I have included my top three solutions to my problem and I hope that it can assist you on your journey to slowing down..
Focus on one area of your life for an entire month that you want to improve and go for it like your life depended on it.
Get a Hobby yes, a Hobby and if you don’t have one create one, what was or is your thing that you love to do or would like to start doing that brings you joy.
Rest and relax, take a day or two for yourself, maybe on the weekend just be still and rest and stretch out on the couch or the bed and just be still, your mind and body will thank you later.
I feel so much better mentally, physically and emotionally since I decided to prioritize myself and my well being.
